HOW TO PLAN THE PERFECT SENIOR DESTINATION TRIP

There’s been a lot of buzz about Senior Destination portrait sessions. Our Seniors not only wants the best images, but they want to be different than their friends. So what’s all the hype about destination sessions? #UNIQUENESS A lot of Senior photographers are wondering why their seniors aren’t technically referring them. I’ve spoken to several juniors & seniors and the biggest issue is uniqueness. They don’t want their friends anyone to have the “same” photographer and/or pictures as them. They want their experience & images to be one-of-a-kind. So, the question is HOW CAN I OFFER THIS unique experience?

2 WORDS - DESTINATION SESSIONS

My great friend and I both wanted something different for our seniors so we decided that we wanted to take an elite group of girls out of their element to see if they gave us different results than the usual senior portrait experience. Where would we go??? Tiffany of Picture Perfect Photography and Miss Araebia Photography decided that not only did it need to be big, but it needed to be HUGE!!! We needed lights, camera and action. So our first destination session was —> THE BIG APPLE…. NYC. As a child, I was born and raised in the urban streets of NYC so it was exciting to take a group of exciting and screaming girls to the Big Apple. Talk about experiences and chats for months.

THE PLANS We decided that we wanted to offer an semi all-inclusive experience so we did mostly everything. -We had rented a brownstone in the heart of Bed-Stuy Brooklyn, NY. {{In which I used to live 7 blocks away}}.

-We had glam bags, teeshirts, goodies, snacks, etc

-We had 2 Hair & Makeup Stylist

-We had 1 Videographer

-Lights, Cameras and Music And lastly we had PARENTS!!! Lol.

If you’re planning an experience for your seniors, make sure you do extensive research on your location. Make sure it’s safe and fun and most importantly DIFFERENT. {{pool, activities, etc.}} Make sure you have medical waivers, allergy information on file. Insurance cards, extra clothes, umbrellas, First Aid Kit, sunscreen, zip lock bags, mosquito repellant wipes, Tylenol, bandage patches, band aids, eye allergy drops, etc. Make sure you have accessories, props, clothing games, & lots of fun. Planning can take weeks and even months, but the biggest thing is choosing a location that doesn’t normally look like anything that you’ve shot before. So if you live in the country, I wouldn’t choose a location where you could have just stayed home.

Here’s a few places that would be considered AWESOME

-NYC

-Urban Locations

-The Desert

-California {{Palm Trees}

-The Beach

-An Island

-Amusement Park

If you’re really into an AMAZING SESSION

-Iceland

-Paris

-Punta Cana, DR

-Mexico

I hope this have helped with anyone that is looking to plan a senior destination session. If you have any additional questions, please leave a comment or you can email me at missaraebia@gmail.com and put DESTINATION SESSION INQUIRY in the subject line.

Here are a few photos from a few of our destinations. {{NYC, Private Island in SC, & The Infamous Goat Farm in ATL}}
