How to Get Real, Genuine Smiles From Your Seniors | How to eliminate fake smiles during your session

Seniors are completely unpredictable. They can be so adorable and easy going and laughing uncontrollably one minute, and the next minute, turn that charm off completely. They will typically smile for their friends all day long until you put them in front of a camera {{that is a "not" selfie camera}}, then they freeze up like a deer in headlights. We want to avoid the gritted teeth and bug-eyed forced smiles during your session.

Here are some things you can do:
Make a list of things that your senior thinks is funny and send it to us prior to the session. {{We normally send out a senior questionnaire to help with this}}. This way, we can be prepared and add these things into our bag of tricks.

Also give us a list of icebreakers for your senior. Tell us the kinds of shows they watch on yourtube/tv, music they listen to, friends’ names, favorite places, etc. This will give us something to talk to them about, and will help them forget they’re in front of the camera for mom and dad.
Practice posing in the mirror WITHOUT the duck lips lol... Practice smiling with that smile that your parents paid a lot for {{if you had braces}}. Practice smiling with your eyes to bring out the fierceness in your images.
Try out a couple of jokes with them....Corny yes, surprised and fun reactions --> BINGO! During the session, we can ask them to tell us a joke and this will typically loosen them up as they tell it to us.

If there is a song that your child loves, we love to play their top 10 favorites to get them excited, pumped and comfortable. We'll load it up to our phone and bring it along with us, & be prepared to sing it during the session.
